Detailed description of work task to be carried out
We are looking for a Senior Test Automation Engineer (3 FTE) to join the Neptune Team within MDM ART. The person in this role will support the development and maintenance of automated tests for Master Data Management solutions, with a strong focus on SOAP and REST API testing, database testing, integration testing, and automation of backend/data distribution processes.
Hybrid working model: 3 days in the office starting from September/October 2026
Location: Gdańk/Gdynia or Warsaw
The role requires strong QA engineering experience with hands-on expertise in Java 17+, RESTAssured, and JUnit 5 for both REST and SOAP API test automation. Candidates must demonstrate solid understanding of REST architecture principles and SOAP/WSDL contracts, along with proficiency in building and maintaining test automation frameworks following Clean Code practices and POJO design patterns. The role will involve active participation in defining and evolving the automation strategy, architecting scalable and maintainable test frameworks, supporting the team in quality-related activities, and introducing AI-assisted solutions to accelerate testing coverage and reduce manual effort.
Design and implement automated tests for APIs, integration processes, and data flows.
· Develop and maintain existing test automation frameworks.
· Create regression tests and integrate them with CI/CD processes.
· Support the implementation of the “Automation First” approach.
· Cooperate with developers, analysts, Product Owners, and other MDM ART teams.
· Support automation of both new features and existing products.
· Analyse test results and prepare test evidence.
· Use AI and GitHub Copilot to improve test automation efficiency.
· Mentor less experienced team members in the area of test automation.
Must-have knowledge and experience
• 6+ years of proven experience in automated software testing, preferably in complex enterprise environments.
• Strong understanding of QA methodology, including test planning, test design, test execution, defect management, regression testing, and continuous quality improvement.
• Good experience in test automation, including designing, developing, and maintaining automated test scripts and frameworks.
• Hands-on experience in test automation development using Java 17+, with strong knowledge of object-oriented programming, Clean Code principles, and POJO-based design patterns for building readable and maintainable test code.
• Strong practical experience with the core Java API testing stack: RESTAssured for HTTP-level testing, JUnit 5 for test lifecycle management and parameterization, and Lombok to reduce boilerplate in model and builder classes.
• Solid understanding of REST architecture (resources, HTTP methods, status codes, JSON/XML payloads) and SOAP/WSDL contracts, with the ability to design tests that validate both protocol types thoroughly.
• Good hands-on experience in API testing, especially for REST and SOAP APIs, integration flows, backend services, and data distribution processes.
• Experience with test reporting tools, especially Allure, including attaching request/response evidence, categorizing failures, and producing clear test execution reports for stakeholders.
• Good experience in writing SQL queries and performing database testing, including data validation and verification of backend processes.
• Experience in testing integration solutions, including asynchronous flows, Kafka-based integrations, data pipelines, and event-driven architecture.
• Practical experience with test management and defect tracking tools, especially qTest and Jira.
• Strong Git skills, including branching strategies (e.g., GitFlow, trunk-based development), pull request workflows, code review practices, and conflict resolution — critical for effective collaboration in a team environment.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, particularly Jenkins and/or Bamboo, including configuring and maintaining automated test execution jobs, pipeline stages, and test result publication.
• Knowdlege and hands-on experience in UI testing in Selenium/Playwright (NICE TO HAVE)
• Good understanding of Agile ways of working, including Scrum ceremonies, sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and collaboration with Product Owners, developers, analysts, and other QA specialists.
• Excellent communication skills in english, with the ability to clearly explain testing scope, risks, defects, automation progress, and quality-related recommendations.
• Ability to work in a cross-functional team, keeping business value, delivery quality, and continuous improvement in mind.
• A proactive mindset and willingness to contribute to the team’s Automation First approach.
• Experience in preparing and maintaining test evidence, automation reporting, and test coverage documentation.
• Ability to mentor or support less experienced team members in test automation practices.
