 Detailed description of the work task to be carried out

The responsibilities of this role include: 

  • Design and plan desktop testing exercises aligned with Technical Recovery Playbook objectives and regulatory expectations for banking operations. 
  • Develop realistic, technically grounded scenarios that stress-test recovery procedures, system failover sequences, and interdependencies across technology and business functions. 
  • Facilitate and host testing workshops with key stakeholders across business units, technology, operations, and support functions to validate recovery assumptions, test technical procedures, and identify operational gaps. 
  • Manage exercise logistics and coordination, including participant engagement, timing, documentation, real-time facilitation of desktop testing sessions, and team coordination. 
  • Develop exercise playbooks, participant guides, and facilitator notes that enable repeatable, high-quality execution of recovery exercises. 
  • Track and manage action items arising from testing exercises, coordinate follow-up actions, and provide timely updates to senior leadership and programme governance. 
  • Document testing outcomes, including findings, observations, gaps, and recommendations for Technical Recovery Playbook improvements. 
  • Collaborate with business continuity and crisis management teams to ensure alignment between recovery plans, crisis response protocols, and business continuity strategies.

Must-have knowledge and experience

The role will require:

  • 3-5 years of experience in Business Continuity, Crisis Management, Operational Resilience, or related disciplines, with at least 1-2 years focused on testing, exercising or technical recovery planning
  • Proven hands-on expertise designing and executing testing exercises, including desktop simulations, tabletop exercises, walkthroughs, and full-scale simulations.
  • Deep understanding of technical recovery concepts: recovery time objectives (RTO), recovery point objectives (RPO), failover procedures, system interdependencies, and technology-led recovery sequencing.
  • Demonstrated experience in the FSI sector (banking, insurance, or equivalent), with solid understanding of how large financial organizations operate and manage technology dependencies.
  • Proven expertise in BCCM (Business Continuity and Crisis Management) frameworks, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Excellent facilitation skills: ability to engage senior leadership, manage differing perspectives, and drive productive discussions.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities while maintaining focus on exercise objectives and outcomes.
